Split a song into its instruments.
Get the tab for each one.

Drop in an audio file or a link. StemTab separates the drums, bass, guitar, keys and vocals, then writes playable tablature and MIDI for every part.

What happens to your audio

Source separation

A Hybrid Transformer Demucs model splits the mix into individual instrument tracks. Every stem is a real audio file you can solo, loop and download.

Note detection

Each pitched stem runs through a convolutional pitch model that reports note onsets, offsets and MIDI pitch. Overtone ghosts get filtered so the tab stays readable.

  • Guitar and keyspolyphonic
  • Bass and vocal linemonophonic
  • Drumsonset banded

Fretboard solving

Notes are placed on the fretboard with a Viterbi search that minimises hand travel and awkward stretches, the same thing a player optimises for. Open strings win ties.

Honest output

This is machine transcription. Expect a strong sketch of the part, not a publisher edition. Quiet, heavily distorted and doubled parts are the hardest.
